よくある誤り
nevertheless は副詞なので，文と文をつなげない
× It was raining, nevertheless we went out.
→ ○ It was raining. Nevertheless, we went out. ／ ○ It was raining; nevertheless, we went out.

意味は but や although に近いですが，接続詞ではないのでコンマだけで文をつなぐことはできません。however，therefore なども同じです。なお，but nevertheless のように接続詞 but と一緒に使うことはできます。接続詞で同じ内容を表すなら Although it was raining, we went out. とします。
