describe は「どんな様子か」を言葉で伝えるときに使います。名詞形は description「描写，説明」です。
よくある誤り
× describe about the accident → ○ describe the accident（他動詞）
× describe me the situation → ○ describe the situation to me

日本語の「～について説明する」につられて about を入れる誤りが多いので注意しましょう。また，describe は explain と同じく「人に」を直後に置く第4文型をとらず，describe O to 人 の形にします。
